Seaside Story

Here is my seaside story. I had to write at least 2 paragraphs about one of the prompts(in my case a tsunami story). If you want to read the most of the main parts of the story, read paragraphs 1, 3, 5 and 7. I hope you like my story! Below is the Google Drawing of the first paragraph:

I was walking along the edge of the water, walking my dog on the hot silky sand. My phone suddenly vibrates to the rhythm of the sound. Stopping in my tracks I take my phone out of my large pocket and turn it on. A new message. I tap on it and a recording plays. “This is not a test. A tsunami is heading your way. Evacuate to the highest and nearest point or hide underground. Be safe and the Government will fix the damages the tsunami may have caused.”

Frozen in fear, around me, people shocked, looking at their phones. Chaos emerges and people start frantically running with their most prized belongings, their family and their pets. I grab my dog and put her next to the driver’s seat and slam the door. I struggle to find my keys in my bag, but there it was, already in my pocket. Putting my keys in the car, I click my dog; Chu and I’s seat belt and step on the accelerator placing the GPS route to Home.

Many people choose this route too. Stepping on it, home is in my range. Good thing I installed a bunker in my house a few months ago. That came in handy. I park my car in front of my neighbour’s house. No reason. I pull my keys out of my car and remove Chu and I’s seat belt. Opening the door, I grab Chu and enter my beige coloured house. I run through the kitchen to my bedroom and lift it up. There it is. The handiest beauty- other than my mum- I have ever seen.

I open her doors and place Chu inside. I leave the doors open and grab food, water and a light. I stuff everything into the bunker underneath my bed. I know, I know, I may have over packed. Chu barks at my phone. It vibrated again. I take it quickly out of my pocket. What now? I open my phone and another recording plays. “A tsunami is heading your way. Find shelter ASAP.” Water leaks through my house doors. Oh no, I forgot to lock it! Stay there Chu! My heart is beating faster than ever. I run to the door and see a giant wave. I lock the door quickly and run to the bunker.

The body of water inside my house is rapidly growing. Suddenly I trip and my phone slides out of my large pocket. Are you serious, this couldn’t get any worse! I leave my phone drifting away. Chu barks at me as the wave breaks all my windows at the front door. Will I make it? The only question in my head. I jump into the bunker- sorry Chu- and close the double doors with all my might. Shoot, I forgot the lock! This genuinely couldn’t get any worse.

A day goes by and Chu and I caught so many Z’s. Last night; too tired to even eat. I just grabbed all the canned baked beans I could find, and some dog food too. I wake up and turn on the torch. I stroke Chu’s fluffy back and open the steel double doors. I look around in shock as light floods our bunker. Damage all around. I hope my family is okay. I wake Chu up and I carry her out of the bunker. Careful, Chu. I search my pockets for my phone. Oh right, it slipped away. My car has been damaged real bad. I guess it’s okay since Chu and I are still alive.

I walk to the nearest junction with Chu in my arms and find helicopters in the sky, blocking the sun. It flies downward. The rescue team walks out and asks if I’m okay. I reply with, “Yup, other than my house, car and my phone if that’s what you’re talking about.” The rescue person grins and escorts Chu and I into the helicopter. All that I’m thinking about is when am I going to get a raise.

  1. Impressive! Very timely at that we have a climate crisis happening nowadays. We need to be environmentally aware what we do harms the Planet Earth.
